GREAT weekend!

This past weekend – was by far one of the best I have had in a long time, and all my weekends are pretty darn good. Friday I made and attempt at a 3D R2D2 cake. That was a lot of fun – we streamed it live on the web while doing it.

Saturday John, Jack and I went to a wedding reception at Lake Ray Roberts and it was a gorgeous day followed by and art opening where we met some interesting people and of course regardless of who the show is by John seems to get most the attention for a bit.

Sunday I went to my mom’s and hung out with her and Ora, my bro and Sam, Dennis and Marife – good times. I love the fact that my family can hang together and drink beers and it be chill. Then I went home and had dinner with Debbie and Gary, John and Jack. BUT the best part of all was the gift I received from John and Jack. It was an awesome picture of Jack, illustrated by John and Jack painted it. SOOO CUTE! Not just that but they made a little video of it. They both are such awesome people, I truly feel loved and I am the lucky one to have such a great guy in my life. I hope Jack grows up just like him! Check out the video!

So I did my nails last night. I was inspired by this chick’s blog. She is doing an different nail design every day for a full year and documenting it on her blog. One of her designs I absolutely loved – it was a sock monkey – too cute!! Check her out!!

Blahhhhh, it’s Thursday and the last day of my class that I teach. I won’t be teaching it next semester and that’s too bad. There were definite aspects of the class that I didn’t like – It had to be very structured with four other labs teaching the same subject but it was nice every once in while seeing the software and design skills click for a student and all of a sudden they are really excited about the possibilities. That was the best part.The money wasn’t bad too.

It has made me wonder about getting adobe certified – that would be kind of cool. I still wouldn’t be able to teach the class because I don’t have a masters. I have thought about going back to school to but my first degree being visual arts leaves me at a disadvantage unless I want to go back specifically for art – which I am pretty sure I don’t.

You know what I want to get a degree in really?! Being a bad-ass. Haven’t found a school that offers that yet, maybe it something you have to study for on your own – but where to start? Maybe reading more geekologie will get me closer. I love that site!!

Trying to get back to my routine

So John and I are back from Shreveport. I would have blogged while there but OMG we were exhausted after every days event. We were so worn out we didn’t go anywhere and just ate in the hotel bar. Man I was ready to get home! Although, it felt like judgment night – everything seemed to be working against us. I lost my keys at the hotel restaurant one of the nights and luckily someone turned them in and then we drove around looking for a gas station for ever and when we pulled in they turned the lights off. ARG!

We did shoot video while we were there and John posted it to his site but here it is.

John and I are about to hit the road for Shreveport. It should be fun but MAN a ton-o-work. We will post video of our days. I am starting to get hungry and wondering if I am going to have to wait until the 4 hour drive is over to eat. Maybe they will have something great there or maybe it will be a fast-food situation. We also have to create a couple hundred or so raised line drawings for the event. Hope we don’t get fabric paint all over the hotel sheets like last time

I am awesome but slipping

So today was a busy day at the office! I had a 28 page special section to build and being the master-procrastinator that I am I waited till the day of the deadline to start it. Well . . . I knocked it out in under 9 hours and it looked pretty good I must say.

Other than that I am slipping. I haven’t been motivated to go to the gym since the 5K – I need to hurry up and find a new goal to work towards that had me as geared-up as the germanfest. Also, I just haven’t been watching what I am eating. One of my co-workers committed the worst friend-sin there is . . . she told me there was chocolate cake in the copy room, DAMN YOU! Nancy (insert evil-eye and fist in the air).

Not motivated at ALL!

Blahhhhh – so it is about 4:20 and I am not motivated at all to get anything done. I have a ton-o-work to do and a special section to build and I am draggin’ my feet. What could possible inspire me?! I consistently find other things do instead of getting work done. I keep thinking to my self ‘oh I got time.’ Ahhhh NO!

o-well – Jack had his tumbling class today and I have yet to hear about it but I am curious and my hubby started a really cool video blog that is a countdown to an art show he has scheduled – that should be really cool. It makes me want to do some video blogging.

That’s IT! I will video blog this weekend while we are working in Shreveport (John has some workshops to do). That will be interesting. Be on the look-out!

Oh and speaking of B – I have to throw this in because I LOVE Patrick Stewart and well . . . the letter B.

I did it!!! I did the 5K at germanfest. It was great. I had never ran outside like that, my experience has always been on a tread and WOW is it different. I was a little down on myself at first because I had to walk a couple times but when I got to the finish line I had beaten my previous time when I hadn’t walked at all. So I think I was running faster and getting more tired. It is really difficullt finding and sticking to a pace when you don’t have a machine telling you what to do.

After the race I met friends and fam at the festival grounds and we drank some beers and I ate all the calories I had just lost and some. It was a great day.

Oh and by the way, when I left this morning my neighbors were parked smack in front of my mailbox, ARRRG! I hope the postman doesn’t withhold my Netflix disc of Enterprise today!!

My internal war

So we live next to a house that is always rented out to bunch of college guys and they have always been cool. We’ve partied over there and invited them over. We have even had some of their friends stumble over to our parties mistaking our house for theirs and that’s all cool.

BUT . . . a storm a’brews. They consistantly park infront of our mailbox.

I have this sort of passive aggressive tactic where, when I think the mail has already run for that day, I will park in front of my own mailbox or super close to their bumper so they won’t park there. It is really rediculous because I know they have no idea I give a damn but I fight this internal war by myself with my neighbors parking abilities.

We’ll see who wins.

I just can’t get motivated today. Last night was a little rough with Jack. We (John and I) fell for the whole “maybe he’s actually down for the night – nap”. Oh NO! When I went to put him in bed at 12:30am he woke and was UP. I slept on the couch while John was mostly up with him but periodically I would get tackled and open my eyes to a giant grin and Jack laughing, AT 3 in the MORNING I might add.

If there is one thing John and I might be it is being to relaxed on keeping Jack on a schedule. It is really hard. I don’t want his schedule to run my life but I (and I am sure he) would like the stability. O-well I guess it is one or the other. We always liked the fact that he could sleep anywhere and for the most part he doesn’t get the whole tired and cranky attitude when we are out – that is a blessing.
